A Fresh Family Space

Just before Christmas, Jace and I decided it was time to freshen up our basement family room. It is a really great space with a sliding glass door and a window for lots of great natural light, but when we built the house, we painted the walls this pale blue. The blue was pretty, but in the interest of going more neutral, we looked for more of a beige color. We were also able to put new flooring down. It is one of those floating floors, and while Jace does not love them, he decided it really was the best option in the basement because they are great over cement. We purchased it from Lumber Liquidators and it was really economical. I didn't even completely realize the transformation until I just looked back at these before pictures! (Of course, it doesn't help that in the before pictures the space is a complete disaster.) But I do love how it turned out. I think it feels warmer, and I think we are all using it much more. There are still some little things to do. I would like to change the curtains to a different color and I am thinking about bringing our love seat down here so that we would have even more seating. There is a cabinet to paint and hang still and a mesh storage closet that has to go, but I've got to do something different with all the toys and dress-up clothes it contains. Those sorts of things... But all in all, you can get the idea.

The paint color is called Interactive Cream. It's a Sherwin Williams color.
